Victoria - Outstanding Rates

Claims Chronicles

The Background

In October 2024, Stephen Bell settled on his home in Geelong, Victoria. At settlement, Stephen’s conveyancer prepared and calculated the correct amounts for the adjustment.

Shortly after settlement, Stephen discovered that the Vendor had not paid the correct amount to Council, and a portion of the unpaid amount was left outstanding. As Stephen was the newly registered owner of the property, the amount was passed to him.

What happened next?

Stephen lodged his claim in December 2024 for the outstanding amount that the Vendor hadn’t paid.

First Title obtained Stephen’s conveyancing documents and information from the Council to confirm the amounts adjusted at settlement and the payments that were made.

What did we do?

First Title accepted the claim under the Outstanding Rates coverage in clause 4.2 of the Covered Risks.

We paid $550 to Stephen to attend payment of the outstanding rates to the Council.

Payment: $550 | Claim Type: Outstanding Rates
