New Zealand - overseas policyholder preference
First Title is a licensed general insurer in New Zealand under the auspices of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. Please note for New Zealand claims an overseas policyholder preference applies. Under Australia law, in the event of First American Title Insurance Company of Australia Pty Limited being, wound up, its Australian assets must be applied to its Australian liabilities before New Zealand liabilities. Therefore New Zealand claimants would be required to wait until all Australian claims against First American Title Insurance Company of Australia Pty Limited had been settled.
